1990-2010 : OST is 20 years old!

To celebrate its 20^th anniversary, OST organizes a symposium entitled �OST is 20 years old�. This symposium will be held on 20 and 21 October 2010, at the Ministry of Higher Education and Research in Paris. Book your dates now!

- The 20^th of October will be devoted to the OST, its present and future role in the national system of higher education, research and innovation

- The morning of October 21 will be devoted to methodological and epistemological reflections on indicators and their uses

- Following the OST symposium, an academic seminar entitled 'Careers, salary incentives and productivity in higher education and research� will be held the 21^st and 22^th of October, 2010

Presentation of a work on the impact of scientific journals

The work focuses on an experimental measure of journal impact, based on a novel normalization of Garfield�s Journal Impact Factor (Thomson-Reuters). The field-dependence of impact levels is corrected on the citing side (the propensity and immediacy to cite) rather than on the cited side as usual ex post field-normalization. The AF measure shown here does not depend on a particular field-nomenclature

Follow-up to the IPERU project: "Production indicators for the LOLF's P150 programme�

At the request of the General Direction for Higher Education of the Ministry for Education and Research, OST supplies every higher learning institution in France with indicators showing its scientific and technological production.
The seven indicators, of which four are concerned with scientific production while one covers technology transfer and two measure the institution's participation in the EC's Framework Programmes for Research and Development, are the same indicators that OST makes available for the P150 programme of the Interministerial Task Force for Research and Higher Learning (MIRES).
The indicators enable each institution to grasp in quantitative terms its position in French, European and world scientific and technological production. Detailed progress report on this project (available in French)

OST to collaborate with IHE, the institute responsible for the �Shanghai ranking�

The agreement was signed into effect by Jean-Jacques Duby, President of OST, and Nian Cai Liu, IHE Director and author of the academic ranking of world universities known as the �Shanghai ranking�, for a period of five years. The signing came at the end of a seminar on "Changes in scientific publication" organised by the French Academy of Sciences, represented at the ceremony by the two permanent secretaries of the Acadamy, Jean-Fran�ois Bach and Jean Dercourt.
This collaborative arrangement will take practical shape on October 2007 when a post-doctoral researcher from Professor Liu's research team will arrive in Paris.
