The OST database
OST maintains a unique database on S&T activity
The OST database is a unique and powerful tool for producing high-value-added indicators. OST's special expertise lies in the "science of nomenclatures" that it has developed and, more generally, in its indicator design and production know-how.
The OST database is composed of twenty or so corpuses, of varied sorts. These sets are woven together in a relational structure to form the database.
OST does not generate data but rather acquires data from reputed external sources such as OECD, Eurostat, and DEPP (Office of Performance Evaluation and Forecast), among others.
Every update of the OST database is also the occasion for accomplishing work on validation, reformatting, and enrichment, as well as data coordination and coherence according to nomenclatures that conform to international standards.
OST's nomenclatures cover scientific disciplines, technological fields, industrial sectors, socio-economic targets, geographical entities, and types of institutions.
