NormAdresses: improving the inscription of French addresses in the principal bibliographic database, the Web of Science, in collaboration with the publisher of this database, Thomson Reuters
Learn more about problems presented by current inscription practices for French addresses
The assembled actors of the French research system are united in their concern for the recognition and visibility of their publication efforts. OST, a Public Interest Group, is aware of what is at stake with the question of accurate referencing, and in consequence it has initiated a project concerned with the treatment of French addresses in the standard bibliographic database, the Web of Science®.
This project is being carried out in conjunction with the publisher of the Web of Science, Thomson Reuters, in the hopes of achieving an improved treatment of French addresses in this database. Thomson Reuters seeks a better comprehension of the French research system and has transmitted to OST the procedure it uses to codify French addresses. On the basis of this document and complementary information, OST will produce a set of recommendations for Thomson Reuters as well as some guidelines for French researchers. In order best to complete this project, OST will call upon not only its members but also major actors in the French research system, through working groups set up for this purpose.
