Co-publication rate
Definition
The indicator co-publication rate (expressed as a percentage) is defined as:
the number of publications by an actor (institution, country, etc.) that are co-authored within a given frame of reference (another country for example) proportional to the total number of publications of the actor.
Example
Table 1-3-55
France : scientific publications – co-publication rate with its top 10 scientific partners all fields taken together (2004)
Interpretation: In 2004 the United States was involved in 24.7% of the total of France's international co-publications, thus qualifying as France's top research partner. Germany and the United Kingdom are just about equal, with 15.3% and 14.1% of French co-publications. Next are the countries that have geographical proximity to France: Italy (11.4% of co-publication), Spain (7.9%), Switzerland (6.7%) and Belgium (6.3%). Canada and Russia follow in eighth and tenth position with co-publication rates of less than 6%.
